violence. good evening. san dertion escaped from the mental facility in redwood city. 7 news reporter is at the san mateo county sheriff's office live tonight with the the latest on the search. amma? >>reporter: yes dan. sheriff's office really wants to find 34-year-old derek sanders who again as you said is a sex offender. he escaped some time overnight from the court mental health facility off 280 located off of the edge wood exit there. it's kind of a wooded area. they say that he escaped through an elevator shaft. staff noticed he was missing when they did the rounds around 4 a.m. and they don't know where he has gone at this point. but again they are so concerned about finding him because he's a high risk sex offender. >> he's a parolee. he has violence in his history. he has prior sex offense in his history. the fact that he has also sex offense with minors l, definitely high risk in our

community. >>reporter: again this is what sanders looks like. he's described as being 5 foot 11. 165 pounds. he was last seen wearing a red polo shirt and blue jeans. again he escaped overnight and police are really stressing not to engage this man. if you do see him call police right away. they really want to get him back in custod custody. live in san mateo county. >> thanks very much amma. >> mean time sonoma county jail inmate shot with taser today when he tried to escape from a santa rosa courtroom. 34-year-old jessie james gram was in court on probation violation when he leaped over the railing and tried to bolt for the door. bailiff hit gram with a taser which also zap the man trying to stop him. gram was subdued and other man is apparently okay tonight. sky 7 hd took these pictures in san jose this evening where police chase ended with the suspect ramming a pickup truck at north 11 and st. james street. we have learned a santa clara county sheriff's deputy tried to stop someone driving erratically on

south bound highway 101 near san jose airport. the driver refused to stop. highway patrol says he just missed hitting one of his officers. suspect then exited the freeway leading police on chase through city streets. officers arrested the man after he tried to run away on foot about half hour ago. it appears there are no serious injuries but it was a pretty chaotic scene. >> had in the mean time police pursuit came to violent end in the middle of east bay freeway when the driver of the car police were chasing lost control. he was tasered and taken into custody. arrested after are dramatic high speed police chase. stolen car flipped over on 8 80 near the arena. several cars hit by the driver who again was ultimately hit with a taser to stop him. the story tonight from lee ann. >>reporter: tearsed by oakland pd the suspect was handcuffed and kept face down on the ground. police had their guns pointed at the man. car he was driving overturned. several

lanes of northbound 8 80 closed creating a back up that went all the way that san lorenzo. police say they tried to stop the driver near heing road because they suspected it was stolen car. the pursuit happened after officers tried to pull the car over when the driver sped away. during the chase several cars were hit including this one owned by a union city family with a child in the rear seat. fortunately the young boy was safely strapped in a car seat and was not hurt. they were on their way to 6 flags discovery kingdom. >> baby was sleeping next to me and suddenly like when i turn back the glass was shattered and almost when we turn back the car was upside down. >> i think he was coming very fast. so he hit us. and one more van and another truck. >>reporter: what did it feel like to be hit at that speed. >> this is big bump. yes.

>>reporter: nobody suffered major injuries but the suspect was put inside an ambulance and sent to the hospital. he will be taken later to jail. l suspect was taken to the hospital because it ace standard practice to do so after a taser is used on someone. in oakland, abc 7 news. group of thieves didn't just steal apple merchandise they practically went on shopping spree. this is video in campbell. thieves grab a shopping cart and fill it up with i-pad. i phones and i-po i-pods. they stole more than 160,000 dollars in electronic. police say it's likely all the merchandise will show up on ebay or craigslist and they warn people to be careful so that you do not buy stolen merchandise on line. >> moody says it expects more california citys to go bankrup bankrupt. credit reporting agency is planning to begin a

wide ranging review of city across california finance to see if any could go broke. these cities went into bankruptcy this year. some cities are considering bankruptcy as way to avoid making payments to bond holders say moody. >> no im practice. for california latest unemployment numbers. jobless rate remained the same as did it in june at 10.7%. that compares to 8.3 percent for the entire united states. the golden state added about 25,000 jobs mostly in government financial services and hospitality. but jobless claims offset those gains basically a wash. losses included jobs in construction, manufacturing and transportation. treasure island was one of the navy premier west coast bases before being turned of to san francisco to be developed. the dreams of a thriving community there with high-rise and thousands of new homes may just that. a dream. the problem? radiation. navy left behind.

diego able to return now. rare look from one of the helicopters fighting the massive blaze fpt this is joyed from u.s. marine helicopter that performed water drop over the 22,000 acre fire that broke out on sun. today evacuation orders were lifted for the communities of rancho and san philip. flames came close to homes in the towns early c this week but unburned. state fire officials believe lightning is what started that fire. here's what is happening now in southern california. heavy rains from thunderstorms have triggered flash floods and mud flow in part of san bernardino county. this is video from a man living in forest falls about 75 miles east of los angeles. it show as massive water debris pushing underneath a local bridge. county sheriff says evacuation have not been order ordered but they are carefully monitoring the flooding as would you expect. now mud and debris just came washing down a number of hill sides. several roads have been blocked by the flooding. as you can see this

one has as well. so it's really just a really terrible situation that came up so quickly in southern california. spencer is here with our forecast but of course he's monitoring the really extreme weather down south spencer. >> that's true. we have a live doppler 7 hd looping image the show you how the storms tapering off down in the area right now. seems like the heaviest activity was banning east of riverside and heavy rains fell in a short period of time and of course that can cause flash flood with very heavy rain in just a short time but they are winding down now. meanwhile live doppler 7 hd shows you moisture moving through the bay area right now and sprinkle just offshore from half moon bay and many sprinkle down around santa cruz as well. so we could see some droplet around the bay area during the night overnight hours. looking at mainly dry conditions and 83 in antioch that is our warm spot. 60's and 70's in other inland location. 56 here in san francisco. these are our

highlights with the clouds and fog increasing overnight along with a chance of sprinkle or light showers during the nighttime and overnight hours. sunny and warm conditions settle in on sunday and monday. so with the foggy and clouds and the chance of spring el tonight. low pressures drop into the mid upper 50's. mild overnight and here's is what happening in the atmosphere satellite radar composite image shows a movement of the upper level low. we have been showing you the last several days continuing to move northward but still pulling autopsy stream of moisture. skinny but nonetheless moisture from the south and that is producing a chance of sprinkle here. 11:00 o'clock we see continuing flow of high clouds and mid level clouds we already have in through tomorrow morning mainly cloudy and probably see some sprinkle off the big sur maybe another location as well. later in the day afternoon hours we see thunderstorms developing yet again over the sierra. there do and likely to be as wide

firefighters from rescuing the victims in time. amy has the story. >>reporter: firefighters say there were so much stuff stock piled inside this home they had a hard time getting to the victims. >> it tack longer than it normally would in a house that would be free of the debris. so yes it took because 20 minutes to get the first victim. and then another 10 or 12 minutes to locate the second victim. >>reporter: normally she says would it just take a minute or 2. both of the elderly men inside died. >> loss of life is always many disheartening. but i'm confident that the crews here did the best they could and rapid response and aggressive search to g g get them the best response that humanly is possible. >>reporter: look at the garage. firefighters say this is a snap shot of what it looked like inside. one firefighters said 2 of the 3 rooms had stuff stacked all the way to the ceiling. in the kitchen he said you couldn't get to the sink.

>>reporter: the response was huge and soon a search party of 7 mostly strangers headed out. when they found missy she has been marooned on the mountain for 8 days. >> paws were all torn up and bloody. she was crippled. basically over. >>reporter: they loaded the dog into a backpack for the long walk down. the image indelible. >> the dog lived for 8 days on the mountain without anything and she still is the sweetest dog ever. >>reporter: this morning missy treated for dehydration and injured paws and her prognosis is good. but here's the twist. her owner a 29-year-old named anthony here on the face book photo has now emerged saying he wants his dog back. >> he didn't do enough to get her off the mountain and therefore doesn't deserve to get her back. >>reporter: in on line forum he explains that he tried but was unable to carry his pet down the mountain by himself. i humbly beg for giveness of the community and most of all my missy girl. community

little bit of a problem with hearing an his brain doesn't work as well but we are happy he's survived. >> first time i came to camp i met somebody with the same brain tumor as me. my brain tumor is rare so that was cool. >>reporter: this foundation provide as crucial left of support for the families so stressed out by their child illness. >> we first came to camp right before ashley second surgery and we didn't really know anybody who was going through what we were going through. >>reporter: camp director runs a support group for the adults where they talk about the child illness having a ripple effect open the whole family. >> it's the sibling who is maybe being left with family members or friends while the parents are spending time at the hospital. financial stress because parents weren't to be with their child and not be able to be at their job. lose their job because of it. >>reporter: this camp is deeply personal. melissa phillips wasn't even 3 when he was diagnosed with multiple brain tumor plus she had a new

baby. melissa is my niece. >> i feel in like each time you tell your story to somebody who really understands. doesn't want the short one minute version where it has a happyening. they want to know the details. >>reporter: mitch turner son was diagnosed when he was 4. his baby brother celebrated his first birthday while aden was recovering from brain surgery. >> it was really difficult for me the first camp listening to all the stories. i think i can't do this any more i can't come back. but just seeing how much fun the joy that he has when he comes here and the friend that he has i was lake i can't deny him that. >>reporter: they work together at abc 7. taylor family foundation was created by the taylors related to jack of jack camp. jack was diagnosed with brain tumor at the age of 24. and sadly did not survive. but he won't be forgotten thanks to the camp that is name after him. >> i always say there for the
